Beginner Spanish Classes

Low-Beginner Spanish / Spanish 1 Low

For students with a very basic knowledge of Spanish wishing to progress through the first half of Beginner Spanish. This level focuses on verbal and written communication in the present tense emphasizing regular present-tense verbs and the most common irregular verbs in the present (SER, ESTAR, TENER, HABER). Vocabulary focuses on personal descriptions, weather, likes and dislikes, hobbies, daily activities, states of being, family, and city life. This level is equivalent to Semester 1 of Spanish 1 in high school and college. It is recommended that anyone unfamiliar with basic Spanish take the free, three-week Spanish Starting from Zero series before enrolling in Low-Beginner Spanish. This is a multi-month course.

High-Beginner Spanish / Spanish 1 High

For students with a solid grasp of Low-Beginner Spanish wishing to progress through the second half of Beginner Spanish and move toward Intermediate Spanish. This level focuses on verbal and written communication in the present tense emphasizing irregular verbs, reflexive verbs, and idioms. Vocabulary focuses on expressing obligations and future plans, animated states, telling time, schedules and daily routines, clothing for different weather and occasions, home life, and wishes and preferences. This course also covers demonstrative adjectives (i.e., this, these, that, those), positive and negative words, and comparisons of equality and inequality. Reading and listening comprehension are additional areas of focus. This level is equivalent to Semester 2 of Spanish 1 in high school and college. This is a multi-month course.

High-Beginner Spanish

  • Spanish 1 High
  • Hours: Monday 9:00-10:00am
  • Wednesday 3:00-4:00pm
  • Cost: 5 classes $100, 4 classes $80, 2 classes $50
  • Note: Select one option each week, all materials included. Meeting times are Pacific Standard Time (PST). Schedule is subject to change.
